Jeep has launched a recall and issued a fire safety warning for 1,076,999 Wranglers and Gladiators spanning the 2021–2025 model years. Due to a fault in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring, these vehicles pose a fire risk even when parked and turned off. Consequently, owners are strongly advised to park outdoors and keep their vehicles away from buildings and other cars. A similar recall was previously issued by Chrysler for its Pacifica plug-in hybrid vans.

Jeep is recalling more than one million Wranglers and Gladiators, which the automaker says may catch on fire. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recalled vehicles should be parked outside and away from other vehicles or structures.

The massive Jeep recall impacts a total of 1,076,699 vehicles, consisting of 787,887 Wranglers and 289,112 Gladiators from the 2021 through 2025 model years. According to NHTSA documents, the defect lies in the electric hydraulic power steering pump, where a high-resistance electrical connection can develop, causing wires to overheat and potentially ignite a fire. Drivers may notice a loss of power steering or see a "Service Power Steering" warning on the dashboard if this issue occurs. As of May 18, 2026, the manufacturer had tracked 63 customer assistance files, 72 field reports (with 35 confirmed cases), and 12 additional service records linked to the problem. While no accidents have been tied to the defect, one injury has been reported as potentially related.

The Jeep recall comes on the same day as a similar, though not identical, recall for the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. The automaker issued a recall and fire risk warning for 17,277 minivans from the 2020–2022 model years because the battery may catch fire, even with the vehicle turned off.

Jeep will begin notifying owners on July 9, with Chrysler sending owner notification letters on June 23. Chrysler and Jeep owners worried that their vehicles may be impacted can check on the NHTSA recalls website starting on June 11.
