NEW YORK — Toyota said Friday it will recall roughly 162,000 pickup trucks in the United States, following the discovery that the vehicles’ multimedia displays could pose a risk to driver safety.

The recall covers the 2024–2025 model-year Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks. Toyota said in a statement that owners of affected vehicles are being notified at this time.

The automaker cautions that under certain conditions, the screens may either “freeze on a camera view” or turn completely black. This could prevent drivers from seeing the rearview camera image while backing up, a problem Toyota says may run afoul of federal safety requirements.
